It’s never been safer to eat food in Salford. Latest hygiene ratings from Salford City Council show that 90.5 per cent of all food businesses in the city are receiving a rating of three or higher. Environmental health officers visit all 2,193 food businesses in the city and they are given a rating from zero to five, depending on the hygiene standards. Places with a rating of five have the best standards of food hygiene in the city. New Child Abuse Campaign Launched
Salford City Council is supporting a new government campaign to encourage people to look out for and report child abuse. The campaign focuses on all forms of neglect and aims to break barriers behind people not reporting concerns. It’s estimated that a third of people who suspect child abuse do nothing about it. The council now wants people to use the ‘ABC’ guide to spot the signs of abuse and neglect. Look for changes in: • Appearance – such as frequent unexplained injuries, consistently poor hygiene, matted hair, unexplained gifts, or a parent regularly collecting children from school when drunk [...]

Salford City Council’s Cabinet will consider the proposals on 26 April. The proposals for an integrated care organisation will create one single organisation, led [...]
Top Marks For Primary School Choice In Salford
Nearly 90% of parents were given a place at their first preference primary school in Salford this year. That’s an increase of three per cent on last year when 86% of parents were offered their first preference. Charlotte Ramsden, Strategic Director Children’s Servcies, Salford City Council, said: “We try very hard to accommodate parents’ preferences and I’m delighted to see that even more parents got their first choice of school. “Although we have enough school places to cater for the children who apply, it’s not always possible to satisfy everyone. Applicants who are not satisfied with their allocated place do [...]
Great Night Out For Local Charity
Three events to help raise money for Salford Loaves and Fishes are being organised by Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Peter Dobbs. The first event is a Swing night with Cadishead Band at Eccles Town Hall on January 30. Tickets cost just £5. Fans of classic Salford film East is East can see it [...]
