Hannah Cockroft has broken the world record for the T34 100m at the Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland. The seven time Paralympic Champion beat her own world record by shaving eight seconds off the time she took to win gold at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. She clocked 16.31 seconds which is a time that anyone will find hard to beat. She took part in the Para Athletics Grand Prix as part of her preparations for July’s World Championships which is due to be staged in Paris where Hannah is planning to compete in the 100m and 800m events. This is the 30 year old’s second world record in consecutive weeks.
Throughout her career so far, Hannah Cockroft has had many great achievements including winning a number of medals for different sporting events. This includes being a seven-time Paralympic champion and an 11-time World champion, alongside three European gold medals. She has also been awarded an MBE for her achievements. Hannah has also been awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Calderdale which she received in 2012. This is an extremely prestigious honour which is only given to people who are extremely successful or have made some sort of major contribution to society.
As well as being successful in the sporting arena, Hannah has also expanded her career to include many other fields including in the area of presenting different events and programmes. She has presented Countryfile as well as being a celebrity guest on Mastermind and The Crystal Maze. She has also had the prestigious honour of being the first ever Paralympian to be named Sport’s Woman of the Year which is an award given out by the Sports Journalist Association.
