Nearly 90% of parents were given a place at their first preference primary school in Salford this year.

That’s an increase of three per cent on last year when 86% of parents were offered their first preference.

Charlotte Ramsden, Strategic Director Children’s Servcies, Salford City Council, said: “We try very hard to accommodate parents’ preferences and I’m delighted to see that even more parents got their first choice of school.

“Although we have enough school places to cater for the children who apply, it’s not always possible to satisfy everyone. Applicants who are not satisfied with their allocated place do have the right to appeal but we often find, after some thought and further research, many are satisfied with the place they have been given and find their children go on to do very well at that school.”
