Community groups planning events for Youth Day 2016 have been given more time to bid for funding.
Salford City Council has limited funds to help youth and community groups stage events on or around Friday August 12 as part of the annual Youth Day celebrations to recognise the huge contribution young people make to the city.
The deadline for submitting bids has been extended from next Monday to noon on Monday April 25.
Last year young people ran a crafternoon tea inviting local residents to tie-dye teeshirts and make jewellery and collages, mapped their ‘world’ and links to other places across the globe, organised an ArtFest with music and art and staged an afternoon of sports ranging from basketball to giant Jenga.
This year groups are asked to consider using their events to support the UK Youth Parliament’s campaign #donthateeducate by celebrating different cultures in Salford.
